When the pandemic shut down Next Gen HQ's flagship entrepreneur summits, the company needed more than a Zoom replacement. NextGen Skills became their always-on digital hub — mentorship, action-driven learning, and community in a single iOS app built to keep the spark of a live event alive between events.

Overview
NextGen Skills is a digital education platform designed to organize and present technical learning programs through a structured and scalable user experience.

The project focused on improving content discoverability, navigation clarity, and visual consistency across a growing learning ecosystem.
The Problem
Online learning platforms often contain large amounts of information across multiple programs, courses, and skill tracks.

Without a clear structure, users can quickly feel overwhelmed when navigating educational content and understanding progression paths.

Common friction points included:
→   Difficulty scanning and comparing learning programs
→   Inconsistent content hierarchy across sections
→   Overwhelming information density
→   Unclear progression between beginner and advanced content
→   Maintaining clarity as the platform scales
The challenge was creating a learning experience that feels structured, approachable, and credible without oversimplifying technical content.

Design Goals
The system was designed to:
→   Simplify navigation across multiple learning tracks
→   Improve content discoverability
→   Create clearer progression between beginner and advanced paths
→   Establish stronger visual credibility for technical education
→   Support both marketing and learning-oriented workflows
Research & Insights
Research focused on understanding how modern learning platforms structure educational content, communicate technical credibility, and support user progression.

This included:
→   Competitor analysis of online learning platforms
→   Content structure analysis
→   Review of SaaS education UI patterns
→   Evaluation of information density and readability
The goal was to identify recurring friction points in how kitchen teams process incoming orders under time pressure.
Key issues
Users scan learning paths before committing
Credibility is heavily influenced by visual clarity
Technical platforms require stronger hierarchy systems
A unified system could significantly reduce drop-off between discovery and action

Approach
The system was designed as a real-time execution interface optimized for speed, clarity, and operational visibility in high-pressure kitchen environments.
Custom icons by me
The design balances energy and clarity, using a bold yet inviting color palette to reflect motivation and growth. Clean layouts enhance readability, while interactive elements like progress trackers and mentor matching features keep users engaged. Subtle motion effects add a dynamic touch without overwhelming the experience.
